About the project

About

For many years, the idea of a temple was just a distant dream. However, in the summer of 2013, we suddenly started construction. What is the purpose of a temple? Primarily - it is a home for the Deities. Why do we need a home for the Deities? So that we can serve them there. Serving God - is our original nature and we need to resurrect it. The construction of the temple united our team around one important goal. We had a very vague idea of our collective capabilities, and so were quite hesitant to take the first step. Ananta Rupa Prabhu helped us with that. He fired us up with the idea of a quick and simple project. But over time, we came to realize that the construction was being controlled by the Deities. The building slowly turned into a massive structure before my very eyes, and now adorns Leznevo. This year, the need to have electrical and interior finish work done. Every summer, we begin with one concern – with what funds do we continue the construction? How will all this be? And at the end of each summer we gaze at the growing building and think, is this real? Is our temple finally being built? Yes, it is being built, both inside and outside our hearts. Devotees are experiencing immense changes. There is a growing enthusiasm. There is an application for everything – able hands, words, money, ideas, and experience. And the most important thing in all of this is the feeling of happiness in our hearts. It seems to me that Krsna is pleased.

Our Interview

First devotees appeared in Khmelnytskyi in 1991. Since that time the community is developing very rapidly. First meetings were held in matagee Gati’s appartment. After that, her family moved to a detached house, where the programs continued. Devotees went out on streets on harinams, sankirtana and prasadam distribution throughout the city. Food for Life and public programs were organized. Some time ago devotees decided to come closer to people and rented a hall in a small theatre in downtown in oerder to organize Sunday programs. House outbuilding of one community member became the next ‘home’ for devotees. Three years ago the community started rentING nice office full time. All this time vaisnavas have been collecting money to build a temple. In 2010 we bought plot of land on the outskirts of the city. Construction began in 2013. For three years virgin land turned into A big building 10m * 14m and 15 metres high. There appeared some neighbours. On July 10th we started to excavate ditch for temple. It was first time we rented a tractor. I remember when tractor started excavation, I rang matagee Gati and asked if she heared that divine sound. ‘Which sound?’ - asked she. - ‘The sound of tractor excavating ditch for the temple!’ That sound pleased me like kirtan than - so much desired this project was.
